Water Emergencies (After-hours)
For water or sewer emergencies that occur after 5:00 p.m., that are not related to billing, such as a sewer back up or a main water line break, please call the Emergency After-hours number at 912-656-9449.

    The City of Port Wentworth Wastewater Treatment Facility is a 2.0 MGD reclamation reservoir and the first Zero Ultimate Oxygen Demand facility in the Southeastern United States.

The City of Port Wentworth Public Works Department provides water, sewer, sanitation, storm water, and streets and roads services to a great majority of its residents and businesses. For questions related to any of the below services, call 912-964-4379 during normal business hours Monday - Friday  8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

  • Application for Water and Sewer Services

     

    Applications for water and sewer service may be obtained below or picked up from City Hall at 7224 GA Highway 21, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Once application is completed, return form to City Hall and pay the required fee amount(s) to begin service.

    For residential customers, the water/sewer fee is $100. There is also a sanitation fee of $75 due at the time of application. Commercial customers are asked to call  912-964-4379 to obtain fee amounts for water /sewer and sanitation services.

  • Water Conservation: Current Restrictions

    Unincorporated Chatham County, the City of Savannah, Bloomingdale, Garden City, Pooler, Port Wentworth, Tybee Island and the Town of Thunderbolt are currently under the outdoor watering restrictions shown below. For more information, call  912-651-1454. 

    Even-numbered and unnumbered addresses may use outdoor water only on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.

    Odd-numbered addresses may use outdoor water only on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
    The use of outdoor water is not permissible between the hours of 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM; and no watering is allowed on Fridays.
    Under the Board of Natural Resources adopted Rules for Outdoor Water Use, Chapter 391-3-30, Georgians are required to follow schedules for outdoor water use during both non-drought periods and during periods of declared drought. The rules are consistent with Section 4 (Drought Responses) of the Georgia Drought Management Plan. The rules apply to any entity, and its customers, permitted by EPD for water withdrawal or for the operation of a public drinking water supply system.
