Fitness Classes

Whether you want to get into shape with a knowledgeable instructor, are working through an injury and want to stay active, or just want to learn something new the Port Wentworth Leisure Services Department offers a few Fitness & Health options for you!

The healthy options listed on this page are representative of the classes Leisure Services often run. However, click here periodically to find out which classes are actually being held during the month.

Most fitness classes are $5 per person and some classes are offered for FREE!

Location

Open Gym and Skate Nights are held at the P.B. Edwards, Jr. Gymnasium, 101 Turnberry Street, Port Wentworth, Georgia 31407. Senior Aerobics and Yoga is held at the Ed. Young Senior Center located at 103 Turnberry Street, Port Wentworth, Georgia 31407.

  • Open Gym

    Leisure Services offers a full-court gymnasium, which is available for open gym, volleyball, basketball, and other youth and adult sports leagues. The gym is also available for after hour rentals.

    Gymnasium Rental Rates 

    Anniversary Parties/Baby Showers/Weddings

    $300.00 for the weekend ($150.00 deposit required).P.A. system not included.

    Business/Commercial Use

    $75.00 Per Hour – Minimum 2 hour rental ($150.00 deposit required)

    Concession Stand

    $200.00 Per Day ($100.00 deposit required) if using concession stands to sell for profit.

    Price is determined by the Director of Leisure Services. Please contact Tiffany Lancaster at 912-966-7428 for pricing.

    $20.00 Per Day ($20.00 deposit required)

    Skating Parties 

    For Port Wentworth Residents $35.00 Per Hour – Minimum of Two Hour Rental ($50.00 deposit)

    For Non-residents of Port Wentworth $65.00 Per Hour – Minimum Two Hour Rental ($100.00 deposit)

    Sports Rentals

    For Port Wentworth Residents $35.00 Per Hour – Minimum of Two Hour Rental ($50.00 deposit)

    Tournaments

    $350.00 Per Day ($150.00 deposit required)

  • Senior Aerobics 

    Senior Aerobics is a low-impact class designed to improve flexibility and balance while increasing muscular endurance. Strength exercises including lifting hand-held weights, stretching and body resistance using core muscles are used to help to improve stability and overall development.

  • The City of Port Wentworth invites you and your family to join us for Family Skate Nights!

    Periodically throughout the year, Friday nights from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m., our gym transforms into a roller skating rink for the whole family to enjoy. Don’t have skates? No worries! We are stocked with sizes from toddler clip-ons to men’s 13.

    Refreshments are also available for purchase at the snack bar located inside the gym.

  • The Port Wentworth Leisure Services Department offers a walking/running club to take in the natural beauty of our City, all while getting healthy.

    Our mission is to create a healthier community, stride-by-stride, by offering walkers/runners a non-competitive atmosphere for getting fit. 

    There is no cost to join, the only requirement is to have fun and put in a good workout. Walkers and runners of all ages are welcome to participate in this free weekly event. 
    Walkers/runners are asked to meet at the P.B. Edwards, Jr. Gymnasium once a week at 5:45 p.m. for a 6:00 p.m. departure on your choice of walking or running a one or two-mile route.

  • Yoga

    Whether you're a new or continuing yoga student, bring your beginner's mind to this class where the fundamentals of yoga are emphasized. The postures will stretch and enliven you. Instruction includes guided breathing and introductory meditation techniques.

    Classes are for anyone who would like to relieve stress, increase strength and flexibility, improve balance and overall well-being.
    Registration is available in person at Port Wentworth City Hall, 305 South Coastal Highway, Port Wentworth, Georgia 31407.
