  • To start new services, customers are expected to complete a Water/Sewer/Sanitation Service Application and pay the required deposit amount(s). Applicants can apply in person at City Hall, 305 South Coastal Highway Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Submission of a new service application via online is not available at this time. A printable version is available by clicking the link below. 

  • For residential customers the water/sewer deposit is $100. There is also a $75 non-refundable trash container fee for sanitation services. Commercial customers are asked to call 912-964-4379 with the building square footage to obtain your deposit amount for water service. Commercial Sanitation & Recycling pick-up options will be discussed at the time of your call. 
  • Applications received before 12 noon, can typically be connected the same day. After 12 noon, services will be connected the following business day. 
  • Utility bills are generated on the first working day of each month and mailed out during the first week of the month. Bills are due upon receipt. 
  • Cash, Check, Money Order, Credit or Debit Cards are all acceptable forms of payment. American Express is not accepted. Residents may also sign up for Automatic Bill Payment (ACH Draft) from your checking or savings account. For more information please refer to the Water/Sewer/Sanitation Policies & Procedures booklet.
  • The City of Port Wentworth offers two after-hours drop box locations, on the north side of City Hall and behind the Renasant Bank located on Highway 21 at Highway 30. Payments received after 5:00 p.m. at either location will be posted to your account the following business day. Please do not place cash inside either drop box. 
  • The Water/Sewer/Sanitation Department hours are from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. For water or sewer emergencies that occur after 5:00 p.m., that are not related to billing, such as a sewer back up or a main water line break, please call the Emergency After-Hours number at 912-964-4379.

  • The Building and Development Permit Application is available below or can be picked up from City Hall at 305 South Coastal Highway, Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Building Inspection Requests can be submitted here online.   • For non-emergencies please dial 912-964-4360 during normal business hours Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. After business hours, please call 911. 
  • All court sessions are held on Wednesdays at either 8:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. Court is held at Port Wentworth City Hall located at 305 South Coastal Highway, Port Wentworth, Georgia. For information on court appearances, please call 912-964-4360 or click here
  • Checks or money orders made payable to the City of Port Wentworth for municipal court payments can be mailed to: Port Wentworth Police Department, 323 Cantyre Street, Port Wentworth, Georgia 31407. Cash only payments are received at the same address above or payment can be made online by clicking the link below.
  • Occupational Tax Registration applications can be obtained here or picked up from City Hall at 305 South Coastal Highway, Port Wentworth, Georgia. For more information on occupational tax certificates, please call 912-964-4379 or send an email to
